Pupils from South London have started workshops at South London Gallery curated by Children & the Arts Charity and funded by ArtSocial Foundation

We are delighted to share an update about the Start project at South London Gallery, led by children’s charity Children & the Arts and supported by ArtSocial Foundation, since September 2017.

On 11 January 2017, pupils from ARK All Saints Academy visited South London Gallery to explore the work of artist Michael Armitage. These sessions will continue in the upcoming weeks with approximately 60 young people having the opportunity to start workshops with artist Nicole Morris.

Last week, workshops with artist Helen Rousseau also started for 20 students with special educational needs from Tuke School with artist Helen Rousseau. The session focused on the theme of light and shadow with pupils invited to build large hanging mobile sculptures and to project light onto them.

Children & the Arts’ Start programme is delivered nationally across the UK to give children in disadvantaged communities access to high-quality arts experiences that harness their creativity, enjoyment, and aspirations, whilst stimulating their critical thinking skills and raising educational attainment.

We are happy to hear the positive feedback about the programme and look forward to sharing updates about the upcoming sessions.
